How to create my Maya object

I go to create on the menu bar select polygon primitives drag it on the grid and use interactive mode to change the size of my objects.

Spaceship Attributes:
Translate X: 1.024    Translate Y: -43.622    Translate Z: -0.104
Scale X: -1.963       Scale Y: 1                Scale Z: 2.815
Rotate X, Z: 0          Rotate Y : 180

Portal Attributes:
Translate X: 0.318   Translate Y: -17.741   Translate Z: -0.117
Scale X: 1       Scale Y: 1                Scale Z: 1
Rotate X,Y, Z: 0

Warp Attributes:
Translate X: 2.979 Translate Y: -14.995   Translate Z: 1.172
Scale X: 1       Scale Y: 1               Scale Z: 1
Rotate X, Z, Y: 0

Soccer Ball Attributes :
Translate X: 0.538   Translate Y: -19.632   Translate Z: -0.094
Scale X: 1       Scale Y: 1                Scale Z: 1
Rotate X,Y, Z: 0

Steps To Create Object

  • First I create a spaceship using polygon primitive and a sphere the I customized it with the above attributes.
  • Then I made a portal using polygon primitives and a cylinder then I customized it with the above attributes.
  • I put a soccer ball in the portal using the interactive tools and the attributes shown above using with polygon primitive.
  • Then finally i put a warp around everything using a polygon primitive and a helix and the shown attributes.
  • Pretty simple how I did it.

My Maya Experience

My Maya experience was very good. It was difficult at first because I didn't know what to do. Eventually I figured out what to do and it got very easy. I changed my object a couple of times so I did not have a permeant object. On the last day I eventually changed my whole entire object. It was a fun project and I would enjoy doing it again.

3D Proposal

I am planning to make a spaceship consisting of 1 sphere, 1 cylinder, 1 soccer ball, and 1 helix. The spaceship will have a cylinder shaped portal and a soccer ball will be inside the cylinder and a helix will be around it like a warp hole. I will use polygon Primitives to make my object.

Lesson 4

Attribute Editor

1. WHAT IS THE ATTRIBUTE EDITOR?

It provides info about the various nodes and and attributes for objects and materials in your scene.

2. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE CHANNEL BOX?

It provides a more detailed dispaly for all attributes for that objects.

3. HOW DO YOU VIEW AN OBJECT’S ATTRIBUTES?

Click the show/hide icon on the status bar.

4. WHAT DOES EACH TAB REPRESENT?

The tab represents a node that shows specific attributes.

5. THE FIRST TAB IS LABELED AS THE OBJECT’S NAME IS KNOWN AS WHICH NODE?  WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THIS TAB?

the transform node, it controls the objects transformations

6. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE SHAPE NODE.

it establishes the object's geometric or physical PROPERTIES

7. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE INPUT NODE.

this includes attributes from a objects construction history.

8. DESCRIBE THE INITIAL SHAPING GROUP AND LAMBERT NODES.

this set the default shading for a materials and the intial color for materials

Surface Materials

1. WHAT DO THE SURFACE MATERIALS CONTROL?

the color, shininess and reflectivity attributes of a objects.

2. WHAT ARE TWO OTHER NAMES FOR THE SURFACE MATERIAL?

 Shader and shading material.

3. HOW DO YOU ASSIGN A NEW MATERIAL TO AN OBJECT?

from the status line selct rendering from the menu selector, then select lighting/shading and assign new material.

4. HOW DO YOU EDIT THE SHADING MATERIAL’S COLOR ATTRIBUTES?

In the attribute editor click the box next to the word color.

Lesson 4

Template Display

1. When do you use template display?

 When your scene becomes complex

2. What does templating the display allow you to do?

Allows you easily select only the object you want

3. How does the object change when you template the display?

 Its changes the objects gray

4. How does the template display help you?

By making only the objects you want easier to select

5. How do you change the display of objects to template mode?

You go to the display menu on the menu bat and then template

6. How do you untemplate a templated object?

From the menu bar you go to display, object display, then template

7. How did you work with template display in the last lesson?

I changed it in order to view the objects better and create an object

Components

1. What is a component?

Smaller parts in geometric shapes

2. Give three examples of a component.

 Vertices, faces, and hull

3. What does a component allow you to do in Maya?
Allows you work with objects at a finer level and allow you to edit then in creative ways

4. What are the step to select a component of an object?
Set selection mode to component mode the right click the wire frame

5. How did you work with components in the last lesson?

I used the components in order to change the size of my objects

What problems did I face on Friday

The problems I faced on Thursday were understanding the vocabulary used on the paper and following the directions. What I learned was to try and solve my problems by figuring things out.

How to Rotate and Position Half Sphere on Pedestal

I would use the rotation tool and rotate the the flat side on the bottom then I would use the translation to position it on the pedestal.
